The cream is completely vegan too. I've made it so many times recently as a late night snack. It's honestly so convenient and effortless. I can't wait for you to try it for yourself!

Why You Will Love This Coffee Cream

    • Great Consistency - Once the coffee cream has been whipped up, it is so smooth. Mine usually has medium peaks, but you can keep mixing until the cream gets to stiff peaks if you wish. No matter how you choose to serve it, it's so tasty.
    • Bold Flavors - If you're a big fan a coffee treats, you're going to adore this cream recipe. It's quite strong, so lovers of my vegan chocotorta and my eggless coffee cake are also likely to enjoy this dessert too.
    • The Simplicity - This coffee cream also makes the perfect quick snack. When you don't have much time on your hands, you'll often require an element of simplicity in a recipe. This pudding is just that.
    • Allergy Friendly & Plant Based - This coffee cream recipe is entirely vegan, gluten free and dairy free.

    Ingredient Notes

The three ingredients required to make my coffee cream recipe laid out neatly inside ramekins over a wooden background.
    • Granulated Sugar - This gives the coffee cream its sweetness. It counterbalances against the bitterness of the coffee. You can also use brown sugar if you'd like a stronger taste of molasses like the flavors you'd find in the likes of my vegan mocha cake and vegan twix cookies.
    • Instant Coffee Granules - Use any quality of instant coffee that you like. I don't usually go for a fancy option. Regular instant coffee granules will do the job nicely!
    • Almond Milk - A fairly neutrally-flavored plant milk which compliments the other ingredients nicely.

See recipe card for full information on individual ingredients and quantities.

    Substitutions & Variations

    • Although I recommend sticking with the almond milk, you can also use other kinds of plant milks for this recipe, as long as it's neutral-tasting. I've also used soy milk in the past with success. Replace the recommended the almond milk, 1:1 and follow the same steps.
    • Although, I only added coffee to flavor this cream recipe, you can add anything that you like. Perhaps you like chopped nuts? Sprinkle them onto the top of your dessert like I did in my vegan almond chocolate cake recipe. I made it optional to sprinkle on some cocoa powder.

How To Make My Coffee Cream Dessert

The coffee, sugar and almond milk combined in a clear bowl.

1: Combine all of the ingredients inside a large bowl.

A hand mixer mixing all of the ingredients together.

2: Use a hand mixer to blend all the cream ingredients together.

The mixer has thickened the coffee cream. It is now a light brown color.

3: Continue to mix until the the mixture becomes thick and creamy.

The coffee cream inside a dessert glass over a wooden backdrop. It is dark in the background.

4: Spoon the cream into a dessert glass and serve.

    Expert Tips

Mix the cream until you achieve your desired consistency - Some people prefer their cream pudding to have medium peaks and some people like it to have stiff peaks. There is no right or wrong answer here. It is purely down to your personal preferences. Use the hand mixer to cream the pudding until it gets to your ideal consistency.

Use your favorite kind of instant coffee - Different kinds of instant coffee come from different parts of the world. Therefore, they can often taste different to each other and have varying flavors. Choose a coffee which you love for your dessert!

    Recipe FAQs

    Is coffee cream sweet?

Yes, due to it's sugar content, this coffee cream has a nice amount of sweetness. However, it is not overly sweet and the coffee is the dominant flavor.

Can I use coffee cream instead of cream?

Yes, you can! Add dollops of this homemade coffee cream (to taste) to the top of warm drinks and desserts.

    Can coffee cream be whipped?

Yes, it can. This recipe is an example of that. Whip the cream mixture with a hand mixer until soft and medium peaks form.

Why does coffee go so well with desserts?

Coffee desserts scientifically make us enjoy treats more due to the caffeine blocking our brain nerve cell membrane receptors and therefore, decreasing our sensitivity to sweetness in recipes.

Will instant coffee dissolve in cream?

Yes it does and fairly quickly too! The cream doesn't need to be warm either when you're blending the instant coffee into it.

How can I store this coffee cream?

Store inside the fridge for 2-3 days. Make sure that you keep it covered with some plastic wrap.
