Want to know how to make delicious and decadent truffles like these vegan chocolate truffles, you're in the right place and this easy recipe is going to be your new go-to chocolate treat.
They're quickly becoming my favorite kind of candy. Not only do they melt in your mouth like good truffles should do, but they also take very little time to prepare.
The truffles only require three ingredients: Oreos, dairy-free hazelnut chocolate spread and regular dairy-free chocolate for melting. This snack hack really is that simple and easy-to-make.

Why You Will Love These Chocolate Truffles
- So Moreish - As these truffle bites are pretty small, it's easy to eat plenty of them in one sitting. They're so moreish!
- Softest Texture - The truffles contain what I like to call vegan 'Nutella'. However, as the vegan Nutella isn't available where I live just yet, I used another dairy-free hazelnut chocolate spread. This combined with the Oreo crumbs creates the soft truffle texture that we all know and love.
- Chocolatey Flavors - The chocolate flavors in this recipe are rich and deep. This gives the truffles a luxury feel like my vegan brownie cheesecake and my vegan chocolate ganache filled cupcakes. I love them.
- Allergy Friendly & Plant Based - This chocolate truffles recipe is entirely vegan and dairy free.
Ingredient Notes
- Oreo Cookies - These were the best cookie option for this recipe. Not only because they're a delicious accidentally vegan option, but also because of the cream in the center of each cookie. The cream helps to create an even softer vegan chocolate truffle. For more Oreo recipe inspiration, also see my vegan oreo cheesecake and vegan oreo cookies.
- Dairy-Free Chocolate Hazelnut Spread - If you don't have access to the plant-based Nutella where you live, you can use any other dairy-free chocolate hazelnut spread alternative which are available in many larger grocery stores these days.
- Dairy-Free Chocolate - This will be for the outer coating of the truffles. You can never have too much chocolate!
See recipe card for full information on individual ingredients and quantities.
Substitutions & Variations
- If dairy-free white chocolate sounds like a better outer coating to you, this is completely fine and can be super delicious. I genuinely can't choose which type of chocolate I prefer in this recipe. Speaking of white chocolate, why not try my vegan red velvet cookies which are filled with it.
- You can also switch up the cookies for another of your choice. I love the extra creaminess of the Oreos but in the past I have also used Digestive cookies and Biscoff cookies. I suppose it just depends on your mood.
How To Make Vegan Chocolate Truffles
For the full method, please refer to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
1: Place the cookies and chocolate spread inside a food processor and pulse until a ball forms.
2: Place the chocolate ball inside the fridge to set a little.
3: Scoop the large chocolate ball to create smaller truffle balls. Refrigerate again.
4: Remove the truffles from the fridge again.
5: Melt the chocolate.
6: Dip the truffles into the melted chocolate and serve.
Expert Tips
Get the ratios right - In order for you to get the right truffle texture one the ingredients need to be measured out correctly. Of course, the Oreos can just be counted and you can carefully dip the truffles into the chocolate but if you don't add the correct amount of the chocolate spread the consistency won't be right. For example, too much spread will make the truffles too soft.
Use high-quality chocolate - If you like your vegan chocolate truffles to taste luxury, melt a high quality vegan chocolate bar as these tend to be more rich with cocoa flavors than cheaper brands.
Recipe FAQs
This depends on the ingredients that were used to make them. For example, mine are made from vegan ingredients, whereas many store-bought ones will contain milk products and therefore, be unsuitable.
Truffle mushrooms are what chocolate truffles are named after due to their resemblance to the shape of the fungus.
Place on a plate and cover with plastic wrap. Store inside the fridge for up to a week.
